Elena Alexieva (1975) is the author of two poetry books, Ladder on the Heart (1994) and A face of angel-executor (1996), and a novel, The Blue Stairway (2000), published with support from Soros Center for the Arts, Open Society Fund, Sofia. She is currently doing a Ph.D. in Semiotics at New Bulgarian University, Sofia, and works as freelance author and translator.
